A modern Zombie story about a group of people who find themselves among the last surviving members of the human race, at least in the Atlanta Area.

The story centers on Rick Grimes played by Andrew Lincoln. Rick was a police officer who was hospitalized during the zombie outbreak and wakes up to a world gone mad. He’s been in a coma for a good while and has no clue what happened.

Conveniently, he meets up with some good people, and ends up conveniently, finding the group that his wife & son are with. As is his former partner, who’s been having an affair with his wife. Hilarity ensues. Well, except for the zombies.

You don’t see that many zombies in modern television but with the success of the vampires and werewolves these days, you can see why they want their own series!

Chris and I watch the short first season (6 episodes) and I thought we liked it. When we heard they were coming back for a second season, I was happy. Chris has cooled on the whole zombie narrative however. So I’ll be on my own.

During San Diego ComicCon this week, the trailer for season 2 was revealed and it’s hard core. They are really ratcheting things up, and apparently moving back toward the original comic/graphic novel story, despite last year’s CDC storyline.

Anyway – here’s the trailer. WARNING – It’s graphic.

Over the last while, I’ve posted more than a few pictures of men, mostly in various states of undress. And while some of you appreciated it, some of you also did not. So, to that end, I’m not going to post them here anymore. I’ve created a brand new blog, totally separate from this one.

If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll send you the link once it’s complete and open to the public. It’s going to be a “user-oriented” site with voting and stuff. Fun!

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Failblog is full of fascinating examples of people doing dumb things. Whenever I’m feeling down, I visit the holy quint-ology of sites that make me smile.

Fail Blog

While I don’t recall seeing this on their site, I did find it on YouTube in their channel and thought it was hysterical.

Given the recent news about Zac Efron trying to re-make the classic Kevin Bacon film Footloose (which is a treasured film for me and many others) you wonder if this isn’t why they’ve stopped for now. I know this isn’t Zac, he’s much cuter than this guy, and better dancer, but a remake of a classic film like Footloose could end up going just as badly as this video. Have a look…

While I have no doubt Footloose will get remade at some point, much to the disappointment of those of us who remember the original, and are forced to take our kids to see the remake, I would really hope it doesn’t go as badly as some other remakes.

In the meantime, it’s easy to laugh at this douche’s bad acting, bad dancing, and inevitable fail.

Thanks to Twitter and @Unmarketing for pointing out this appalling story.

Basically, a month after The huge anti-bullying rally across Canada which had thousands of people showing their support by wearing a pink shirt, we get this story.

Rob Scorcia was bullied for years and nothing ever really happened to the bully. Rob reported it to school authorities, police, parents etc and it just kept happening and escalating.

So one day Rob takes an imitation gun and threatens the guy with it. Which was dumb, but considering there was no real danger, and nothing happened beyond a verbal threat you would expect it to end there.

Instead, Rob was arrested and charged with using an imitation handgun in the commission of a robbery and now faces a year in jail for it. An automatic one year sentence. The jury in the trial didn’t believe or didn’t consider the fact that he’d been bullied for years.

It’s a mis-carriage of justice in my lay-opinion. Not that Rob was in the right, but that the bully has gotten away with years of this crap and then turns around and has Rob arrested because he finally stood up.

I’m sure there’s way more to this than I’ve read or inferred from one article, but I wanted to vent and share this with you.

The family is trying to raise money for an appeal.

And the bully?

In his second day at college this year, he got charged with sexual assault for pushing and fondling a female student and robbery after a male student was repeatedly kicked and spat on during a demand for his property.

Source: The Province

I have to admit, I didn’t see any pink shirts on my (short) trip to work this morning, but I’m hoping and praying that there are many people out there taking up this cause across BC.

Like many young gay men, I was bullied as a teenager. Not a lot, and certainly not as badly as many kids are bullied. I was never physically injured, nor was I overly emotionally affected by it.

In junior high school, just coming of age and living in a new city, this one kid who lived in my neighborhood decided that I was gay (how he knew) and decided to pick on me. Naming names – Kevin McNabb. I’ll never forget him. He teased me with the usual taunts and verbal jabs, calling me all the usual names and generally making life miserable whenever he saw me.

Obviously I’ve gotten past it. I can’t say it was easy and it didn’t make accepting my homosexuality any easier but in the end I think it made me a bit stronger. I had to stand up for myself and learn that words, while harmful, didn’t mean much coming from small people like Kevin.

Kevin if you’re out there, I hope you’ve grown up in the last 25 years, but I doubt you have. I also hope that you didn’t torture too many others along the way.

So I’ve had my Invisalign braces for 6 days, not a week. But I’ve really gotten used to it. I’m much better and putting them on, and importantly taking them out. My “out time” tends to be a little long sometimes – I need to compress my eating schedule.

Despite the doctor saying I can eat with them in, and I have tried, I don’t think it’s a good idea. It’s messy and uncomfortable. I’ll still to the hassles of taking them out.

I have noticed that in just this first week, flossing is different. The spacing is changed! Kewl. it’s working.

Wednesday I got to have the attachment replaced and expect that having that one back will make it hard to take these things on and off again. Sigh.

Otherwise today wasn’t bad. Misadventures in eating, learning how to remove the trays without breaking a nail. My boss even told me I was “more gay” today. I told her to stop teasing me about my newly acquired lisp or I’d sue her for harassment just to be able to pay for my braces. And to get her to stop. It worked.

See, Rumble had decided it was his, and we were OK with that. but then it got to be such a mess, nobody wanted to sit in it. He had chewed it, chewed his paws, tracked mud etc. and generally made it his. So we finally just replaced it and since then he hasn’t been allowed on it.

However, we conceded he could use the stool on occasion. He’s pretty much ignored it until the last few days when scenes like this have become common.

For the faint of heart, I apologize for the angle. I, ahem, cleaned up the photo before posting. Charmin’s got nothing on a good clone brush.
