This particular episode was about monsters. I got there just in time to hear about The Mothman. I also heard about “globsters” and the MonkeyMan in New Delhi. The MonkeyMan was a real phenomenon that happened in New Delhi in 2001 for a few weeks. I’d never heard of it.

Did you know that the Loch Ness Monster was first “seen” in 545 A.D. ? That’s a long, long time ago. Like before the picture of the elephant was hoaxed. It’s amazing how long some stories endure. Stories about Nessie are now 1500 years old and going strong. Millions of dollars in research and tourism won’t let it die.

So – where was I. Right. I’m a fan of cryptozoology. I don’t believe in ever monster reported out there but I believe in the concept.

Are there things on Earth that have yet to be discovered? Yup, I have no doubt of it. Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes. Does the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot/Yeti/Sasquatch, New Jersey Devil, Chupacabra or Ogopogo exist? I have no idea. But I like to keep my mind open the possibility that I don’t know everything. Some people tell me this frequently.

It’s interesting that I believe in the possibility of these things, like I believe in aliens, but I don’t believe in G/g/od(s).

Aliens – let’s be clear, I believe that life exists elsewhere in the universe. I don’t believe that the greys are coming to get me while I sleep. I will not likely “lose time” or get probed in an unpleasant way. I don’t believe we have been visited or that aliens built the pyramids. Could they have? Sure. I suppose.

G/g/od(s) – if you know me, you’ve probably heard this. Gods are, and always have been, a nice construct to keep men in line (women too, gotta watch out for them) without having to appoint hundreds of watchers. They’re also convenient scapegoats for explaining things we can’t or don’t want to. I could go on, but I start to sound like a bitter old crackpot. Which I’m not. Yet.

Let’s round out this little group with the paranormal. Ghosts, banshees, poltergeists etc. Nope. I don’t believe in those. Yes, strange shit happens in certain places somewhat more frequently than you’d like. But really, if you look it tends to be a lot like UFO sightings. Once you’ve had 2 or 3, more people show up. More people = more stories/reports. It’s the group effect. Plus people who go looking are more inclined to believe, and often want to be included.

Is there an odd line in there? Monsters & aliens (physical beings) might exist, gods & ghosts (non-physical) don’t exist. Huh. That was easy.

Now I just have to figure out why the dog is floating over his bed and I can get on with Christmas.

Which could be true today. Chris and I haven’t had a landline in over 3 years, and several of our friends have given theirs up too. Why bother?

Easter is all about Jesus’ miraculous rise from the dead, right? Just like a zombie! Think about that for a minute.

So, at some point, the kids over at ThinkGeek created an April Fools prank featuring a chocolate zombie easter bunny (Or is it zombie chocolate easter bunny?) And people went NUTS for it. So, flash to today and after everyone clamoring for it, someone made the prank into a real product.

Seriously. Chocolate, bunnies, zombies and Easter. All brought together in a single delicious product.

And yes, I’m fairly certain I’m going to hell. Not just for this post.

I’d probably pimp out my walker a little more than this (bumper stickers and sequins), but essentially I’ll be sitting in a Starbucks (somewhere warm), proclaiming my love for all things caffeinated.

I pick on Bieber a lot, because he’s an easy target (ha ha), but this has been a busy week for the Bieber.

Not only did Glee do a tribute to the Biebs, but his CSI character got a lot of attention.

I have to say that I loved the Glee episode (Chris turned it off as soon as “Puffy Lips” (Chord Overstreet) started singing Baby), but I stuck it out and was handsomely rewarded. Not only were the Glee boy’s renditions of Baby and Somebody To Love pretty good (and them in their hoodies) – but the diva-off between Mercedes and Rachel doing Take Me or Leave Me from Rent was great.

Sue’s suggestion they do a real anthem, and then doing My Chemical Romance’s Sing is a questionable choice. I guess it’s a “modern day” anthem as opposed to the legendary rock anthems I was thinking/hoping they might do. Strong enough for Regionals? Who knows how the writers will play it. Depends on the iTunes sales I think. Anyway, I downloaded this and the original. Good week for music.

Back to Bieber.

I have not seen CSI in a few years, specifically none of the episodes with Justin in them, and really don’t know about his character.

All I know is that I got a chuckle out of the above animated GIF. Mainly because I poke fun. Yes, I know constantly talking about him “really” means that I like Justin. Just like Lady MacBeth.

I do draw the line at seeing a movie about him. No 16 year old needs a feature film biography.

Ricky Gervais wasn’t too bad but the best quip of the evening came from whoever picked up the award for Toy Story 3 (Lee Unkrich). Hailee Steinfeld and Justin Bieber presented the award (Children?) and Lee tossed of the bon mot shown in the picture below.

I rag on Bieber frequently, but he is an adorable little moppet. And Unkrich wasn’t far off. Toy Story came out in 1995. 15 years ago. Bieber is 16-ish (March 1994) and Steinfeld was born in December 1996, making her YOUNGER than Toy Story by a full year and a half.

From Overheard In New York…

Mom: You wanna play with my iPod? I put your favorite Bieber songs on there.

Three-year-old: He not my favorite anymore.

Mom: He’s not? How come?

Three-year-old: Mommy, he’s just a white boy from Canada.

Ok, so this past weekend, not being able to download, buy or stream The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the last minute, we resorted to watching Harry Potter and the Age of Puberty. No, it was Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. This isn’t exactly Halloween fair, but we saw a bunch of little (and very big) Harry’s running around (and a Malfoy) so it must be something. Creepy in places, very dark, but not scary.

Chris and I differ in our opinions of a good scary movie. I love scary movies, he doesn’t so much. Thus to him a good scary movie is one he can do other things while “watching.” We watched Paranormal Activity a couple of weeks ago and I found it laughable and never got even slightly worked up. Chris wasn’t scared or ‘nuthin, but he “watched it” while playing with his iPhone and cleaning the kitchen.

Because Chris isn’t a fan, I’ve fallen out of my habit of watching scary movies and I’m way, way behind. I am looking for recommendations though. If you want to leave me a comment with your favorites, I’d appreciate it.

But it’s got to be GOOD. Like interesting, unique, no huge love story for the hero, very few boobs (none is better) and a decent story. Shit like The Ring will not pass.

When this popped up on RolfRazzi the other day I just knew I had to post it and pretty much adopt it. Yeah, I have a problem.

Funny story though – according to the comments on the original post, Lucas and co. filmed the backgrounds in Norway (spectacular) and Norway doesn’t have Starbucks! I guess we know where I’m not going anytime soon.
