The Tale Of The Tape

I got the results from my first month working with a trainer… and here’s the score. We already know I “lost 10 pounds” but what else.

Starting Body Fat %: 21.88
Current Body Fat %: 19.47
Change: -2.41%
Fat Lost: -7.93 lbs
LBM Change: -2.07 lbs

It was enough to move me from “above average” to “average” for my body fat.
Other measures:
Waist: -3″
Neck: -1.5″
Chest: -1″
Bicep: No change
Calf: No change
Thigh: -1.5″

Pretty happy overall, even if the scales don’t make any sense.

Oh, and I got a tattoo last Sunday. Chris’s initials on my upper left calf – it was my first tattoo. It hurt but not bad enough that I did more than flinch a few times. Picture to follow.

I’m Confused By Numbers

So tonight was my TOPS meeting (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and I was really looking forward to seeing a BIG drop in my weight. After all, yesterday I weighed with Bryan at Weights and had lost a total of 10 pounds according to his scale. So – tonight I step on the scale feeling light and excited and what happens? I’m UP 1/4 pound since 2 weeks ago. WTF?

How can 1 scale say that I started at 248 a month ago, and I’m 238 yesterday, and another scale say I started at 250 a month ago, and I’m at 245 now. That doesn’t make sense, and it pisses me off to no end.

Grr. End of rant.

Weights – The penultimate post

Today is Monday. The 4 week weightloss/fitness competition was supposed to be done on Friday, but Bryan, the trainer, was inured and couldn’t do our sessions. So I worked out today (arms – yech) and tomorrow, we’ll be doing a final workout and body composition.

My waist is smaller, my arms are stronger and more toned. I can’t wait to see the final numbers (I like numbers) but no matter what, I feel good that I was able to withstand it all.

This weekend I splurged. I came off the diet for the most part. Saturday was Chris’s birthday and we went out for dinner. Dinner was fine, but for dessert we split a piece of blueberry cheesecake. It was delicious after salad and chicken for a month. I also had popcorn while we watched ICE AGE 2 because my blood sugars started dropping – poor planning on my part.

Sunday, I made whole-wheat paste, tomato sauce and meatless-meatballs for dinner. We both enjoy it (first time I’ve cooked for Chris in a month), but can’t help but think of the line from La Vie Boheme in RENT – where Collins orders the pasta with meatless balls… Funny to us.

So, the big thing is still “what next?”…. Stay tuned.
