This move is cursed

Hopefully all the crap is over. It can’t get any worse.

On top of all of the trouble we had with the arrangements and everything, at the 11th hour (or later), Chris was let go from his job. After a month of talking about hiring a new girl, and him getting M-F, 9-5 type hours (some stability), they fired him at the end of the day.

How frickin’ great is that? He’s within 3 months probation so no notice is required, but they sure lead him down the garden path, and really their timing couldn’t be worse. We’ll make it.

Hopefully you’ll hear from me on the other side of this move… Whenever that is. At the very least, I’m back to work on Monday so I can post from there.

Hulk Smash

Chris just posted on his blog that he’s pretty frustrated with the moving process. It hasn’t been easy, but everyone we’re working with IS trying to help. We’ve encountered scheduling problems coordinating this move between 3 locations (out of 2, into 1) and the movers. If we could put everyone on the phone at the same time, it’d help. Oh well, in 45 hours, it’s all over but the unpacking.

On the upside, I’m taking a 1/2 day off tomorrow… To move, but still, less work. Of course, I’m right in the middle of some fun stuff, so I’d almost rather be working.

Telus has given me an appointment on Sunday for the new phone/internet setup, and Shaw is supposed to be in that day too. Some people doubt that Telus will make it. I have faith.

More news to come….

Into the abyss… or back from it?

The countdown is on to the move, just 4 more sleeps until the big move, and there’s still so much to do.

I got back from LA safe and sound. What a whirlwind trip. Barely 48 hours on the ground, 8 hours of sleep, and most of the rest of it working. It showcase was great. I met a lot of great casting directors in LA, and some of our “competitors”. After listening to stories about them for the last 5 1/2 years it was nice to have faces and more for all of these people. We had a lot of fun, drank a lot (not so much for me, but the rest made up for it), and made some good contacts and impressions.

Saturday night we went to The Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd to see Vargus Mason’s show. He’s pretty funny. One of the best that night. We also saw a bunch of people I don’t remember, some much less funny. Bobby Lee (from MadTV) was one of the performers. He’s funny. I slept for 12 solid hours when I got home.

Chris managed without me. If you read his blog here, you’ll see how he did. Poor guy. He missed me a lot, and I did think about him frequently, I really didn’t have a lot of time to miss him per se. But we both survived that, now we have to survive THE MOVE.

Oh, and Serenity comes out this weekend. It looks pretty cool.

Further online

Well, just days after getting his blog and photo gallery running, I wrote Chris a link manager and got that up and running. And NOW he has his own domain too! This guy moves pretty quick.

I’m happy for him. He’s got some great ideas, knows what he wants and isn’t pushing me to make it all happen now. Watch for future developments.

Next weekend I’m heading to LA for a “showcase” with work so this is my last weekend a) in this apartment, and b) to pack. Work will be busy this week, so I’m going to spend most of this weekend packing. I’m going to head out soon, run some errands, pick up some boxes and then pack, pack, pack. Not much fun, but I can’t wait to move. Turns out the new apartment is nearly 200sq ft bigger than this tiny little place. It’s going to feel huge.

I’ve also excused myself from my T.O.P.S. meetings for the next two weeks to focus on work and moving. Not that I’ll stop thinking about them, and my need to lose weight, but at least I don’t have to plan and run the meeting on top of everything else.

Chris goes online

I’ve been talking a bit about my boyfriend Chris and thought I’d continue that. He’s a bright guy. Charming, funny, intelligent, but not super tech-savvy…. YET. He’s learning quickly and so has joined the online ranks with his own blog. (http://christophert.jeffrose.ca/blog/)

Yesterday he posted a big blog about me – sweet guy (http://christophert.jeffrose.ca/blog/wp-trackback.php?p=18). Of course he says I drive him nuts sometimes, but isn’t that partly what happens in relationships? Even the best is 99% bliss, and 1% crazy. I’m kidding. I mean, no relationship is perfect. And neither is ours. We’ve had some moments where we nearly didn’t make it this far. We’re almost up to 9 months and haven’t yet had a fight! Not that the potential isn’t there, we both have the ability to argue, but we’re both pretty level headed and know that mature communication is the way to go, not petty bickering.

Even when I do silly things like try to tickle him, nearly break a finger with a football, or stick my tongue in his ear, he just laughs and away we go. Except the finger. Then he swore, but not at me.

Check out his blog, it’s more interesting than mine.
